Desky
A voice-capture web app that files my spoken notes into my calendar or task list.
What it does
Most note apps make you decide whether something is a task, an event or a note before you can write it down. Desky has one input, and an agent decides where each entry belongs.
Technical details
- Client
- An installable web app in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with a service worker.
- Reliability
- Each capture gets an ID on the device and is retried until the server confirms that exact record.
- Processing
- A database trigger starts the agent in the background and batches bursts of captures into one run. The agent uses my course timetable to decide where each one goes.
- Storage
- Supabase Postgres, with every table locked to the signed-in user
Engineering decisions
A capture only counts as saved when the database proves it. The client asks for the saved record back and checks that its ID matches the one it sent, so a save can't quietly report success without writing anything.
